St. Joseph County Judge candidate Doug Bernacchi was asked to leave the St. Joseph County 4-H Fair over the weekend after an allegedly heated argument, the South Bend Tribune reported, but he says that’s not what happened.

A witness said Bernacchi started screaming at a Republican Party volunteer Friday night because Bernacchi’s name wasn’t listed on the party’s banner. Fair officials told the Tribune they asked Bernacchi to leave because of the fight, and he left without incident.

Bernacchi denied the allegations and said he became physically ill after eating sugary food he bought at the fair, then left peacefully of his own accord.

After the incident, Bernacchi blasted the fair on Twitter and Instagram.

Later, Bernacchi told the Tribune that he encouraged people on Facebook to attend the fair.
