Alert about possible gunman sent to I.U. South Bend students during robbery search

A search for a robbery suspect led to an alert sent to I.U. South Bend students about a possible gunman spotted heading toward campus.

The alert was sent at 12:55 a.m. on Friday, July 8, according to 95.3 MNC’s reporting partners at ABC 57.

South Bend Police searched the campus after dispatch said someone was seen with a gun early Friday morning, ABC 57 reported.

The alert to students advised them to take shelter and lock their doors, WNDU reported.

Police searched the area for the possible gunman.

The issue was resolved at the nearby One Stop convenience store in the 1800 block of Lincoln Way East in South Bend, ABC 57 reported.
