Chicago man found shot and killed at Rosedale Highrise in Elkhart

A Chicago man was shot and killed in Elkhart in the early morning hours of Saturday, July 9.

Elkhart Police officers were called around 2:30 a.m. to the 500 block of West Indiana Avenue
in regard to an injury shooting, according to Sgt. Chris Snyder with the Elkhart Police Department.

Officers found the victim, Tristan Branch, 26, inside an apartment at Rosedale Highrise, Snyder stated.

Branch was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities are trying to find out why Branch was at the building, which is operated by the Elkhart Housing Authority.

His death was ruled a homicide, according to autopsy results released on Sunday.

Police have not released information about a possible suspect or a motive for the shooting.
