Man dies after stabbing, robbery on East Dayton Street in South Bend

South Bend Police were called to the 1200 block of East Dayton Street around 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 20, on the report of a stabbing.

On arrival, officers found the victim with an apparent stab wound to the buttocks, according to 95.3 MNC’s reporting partners at ABC 57.

The man was taken to the hospital with what they believed to be non life-threatening injuries. The victim died at the hospital.

The fight happened in the street, according to the South Bend Tribune.

It’s believed the suspects and the victim knew each other, the South Bend Tribune reported.

Police recovered a knife. It’s believed some large rocks were also used during the fight, the South Bend Tribune reported.

A person of interest has spoken to police. As of 12:30 p.m. there was no word of any arrests.

The St. Joseph County Metro Homicide Unit is investigating the case.
