Baby hospitalized with broken legs, arm, signs of shaken baby syndrome

A 3-month-old baby from Cleveland Township was taken to Elkhart General Hospital with several broken bones and signs of shaken baby syndrome.

Officers with the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department were called to the hospital on Tuesday, July 19.

The baby suffered two broken legs, a broken arm, and was believed to have been shaken violently, according to 95.3 MNC’s reporting partners at The Elkhart Truth.

The child’s mother told police the injuries happened at the babysitter’s home in the 54000 block of Ash Road, according to WNDU.

The sheriff’s department is working with the Department of Child Services, according to 95.3 MNC’s reporting partners at ABC 57.

There were no arrests reported connected to the case as of 12 p.m. on Wednesday, July 20.

There is no word of the child’s current condition.
