INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Authorities in Indianapolis are searching for a man they say raped and tortured a woman and kept her chained in his basement.

An arrest warrant has been issued for 28-year-old Maurice Nelson charging him with rape, criminal confinement, battery and other crimes. He has remained at large since police found the woman July 14.

Court documents say that after a neighbor reported hearing the 23-year-old woman’s screams, officers found her nude and chained in the basement.

The woman told investigators she met Nelson on July 10 after they spoke via a telephone chat line. He picked her up at her hotel and they went to his home, where they started having sex when Nelson stopped and doused her with pepper spray, handcuffed her and forced her into the basement.
