SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) — South Bend’s Studebaker Museum, which pays homage to the Studebaker Corporation, is putting a spotlight on the outdoor laboratory where the one-time automaker tested its vehicles.

The Studebaker National Museum is marking the Studebaker Proving Ground’s 90th anniversary with an exhibit titled “Proving the Product: Studebaker’s Proving Ground.”

The South Bend Tribune reports the exhibit features images and videos chronicling the proving ground’s long history as an outdoor laboratory.

The exhibit runs through Jan. 22 at the South Bend museum.

Studebaker’s proving ground was located west of South Bend near New Carlisle.

A portion of that land is now Bendix Woods County Park. That area includes trees that were originally planted in the shape of the world “Studebaker.”
