LANSING, Mich. (AP) — Donald Trump’s inflammatory style is leading high-ranking Michigan Republican officeholders and candidates to take a hands-off approach to their presidential nominee before Election Day.
Many continue backing his candidacy. But they aren’t exactly voicing full-throated support.
Endorse him and they risk being accused of condoning rhetoric that Trump’s detractors say make him unfit. Withhold support and they risk alienating GOP voters who may blame establishment turncoats if Trump loses.
Gov. Rick Snyder and three of Michigan’s nine Republican U.S. House members — Justin Amash, Fred Upton and Bill Huizenga — aren’t endorsing Trump.
Trump backers include Attorney General Bill Schuette and Lt. Gov. Brian Calley — potential gubernatorial candidates in 2018.
Democrats want to make Republicans’ stance on Trump an issue in this fall’s battles for congressional and legislative seats.

Fred Upton should have lived up to a promise he made way back in the 1980’s and that was to stay in office six years. He lied about that to the voters back then and he is afraid of what Trump will uncover about all of the Capitol Hill clingers once in office. Upton is not a Republican and should be voted out of office by the majority of Republicans in his district.
Like when it was Sen Lugars time it is now overdue for Upton to be unassed from Congress
