Two men armed with a gun robbed the Advance America payday lending store in the 1800 block of Cassopolis Street in Elkhart.

Officers were called to the store around 11:50 a.m. on Monday, August 15, according to Sgt. Chris Snyder with The Elkhart Police Department.

The two suspects entered the business, displayed handguns and demanded the money. After taking an undetermined amount of money the suspects ran off, Snyder stated.

The suspects were described as black males with their faces covered. There were no injuries as a result of the robbery.

As a precaution schools in the area were placed on lockdown for a short period of time.

There is no evidence connecting this robbery to any of the recent bank robberies, Snyder stated.

Anybody with information regarding the robbery is asked to contact the Elkhart Police Department at 574-295-7070 or the Tip Line at 574-389-4777.
