Ramey arraigned on involuntary manslaughter, aggravated battery charges in stepfather’s death

The man who prosecutors say is responsible for the death of his stepfather in Osceola last week appeared in court on Monday, Aug. 15.

Randolph Ramey, 25, was arraigned on charged of involuntary manslaughter and aggravated battery in connection with the death of David Sause, 62, last Thursday. according to the St. Joseph County Prosecutor’s Office.

Police were called to the home on Barberry Drive last Thursday night, where they found Sause’s body in a bedroom.

Ramey told investigators he had gone to his mother and stepfather’s home and that a fight broke out in front of Ramey’s mother and younger sibling, according to court documents.

Ramey admitted that he beat his stepdad, the court documents stated.

After Ramey left, witnesses at the home say Sause’s face began to bruise and swell. He was helped to bed and a few hours later when the witneses checked on him, he was unresponsive, the court documents stated.

He was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency personnel.

The autopsy revealed that he died due to a brain bleed as a result of blunt force trauma.
