Rash of thefts, burglaries reported in Westville, Union Mills

The LaPorte County Sheriff’s Office is is asking for help from the public after a rash of thefts and burglaries in the west central part of LaPorte County.

More than two dozen thefts have been reported in the rural portions of the county as well as in the towns of Westville and Union Mills, according to a news release from the sheriff’s department.

The suspects have been operating in the late night and early morning hours and have mostly been targeting unlocked vehicles.

“We encourage resents to make sure to secure your vehicles and property at all times”, stated LaPorte County Sheriff John Boyd. “It is also helpful for everyone to be good neighbors and immediately report suspicious activity to our department.”

Anyone who recognizes the suspect in the surveillance photo or has information that can help lead to those that are responsible, should call the Sheriff’s Office detective bureau at (219) 326-7700 extension 2443.
