Repaving, road striping continues on nearly 30 different roads in St. Joseph County


Repaving continues on the toll road throughout South Bend and Mishawaka, from mile markers 73 to 83. Expect lane restrictions and delays in the metro area of up to 30 minutes during the rush hours… Repaving is also underway in northwest Indiana between miles markers 31 to 41. (ends TFN)


(NEW FOR MON) Road crews will be working on east/west roads this week from Old US 31 east to Ash Road and from City of South Bend limits south to Tyler Road.

Roads to be striped include:
Harrison Road
Inwood Road
Ireland Road
Dragoon Trail

Jackson Road
Kern Road
Johnson Road
Roosevelt Road

Layton Road
Madison Road
Miller Road
New Road

Osborne Road
Pierce Road
Patterson Road
Quinn Road

Riley Road
Lake Trail
Shively Road
Tyler Road

In St. Joe County, the following roads will be closed for 2 hours at a time, this week, for maintenance:

Rockstroh Road between SR 23 and Walnut Road
Shively Road between Sweetbrier Road and SR 23
Union Road between Timothy Trail and County Line
New Road between Mullberry Road and Maple Road
Mullberry Road between Pierce Road and New Road

Timothy Road between LaPorte County Line and Dunn Road
Edison Road between Quince Road and Orange Road
Primrose Road between Old Cleveland Road and Brick Road
Brick Road between the Cul-de-Sac and Portage Road
Portage Road between the City of South Bend and the Michigan State Line

In St. Joe County, expect slight delays on these roads this week, due to construction:
Tamarack Road between Marshall County and Town of North Liberty
Tyler Road between Pine and Oak Road
Oak Road between Osborne Road and Roosevelt Road

Bremen Highway is closed between the U.S. 20 Bypass and U.S. 6, through September 1st for repaving. Drivers traveling south on State Road 331 are detoured west on U.S. 20. Drivers traveling north on State Road 331 are detoured west on U.S. 6. (ends 9/1)


Fir Road is closed at the toll road overpass. Find an alternate route. (ends TBA)

Crews are milling and paving the final stretch of State Road 23 between Cleveland Road and Gumwood Road. Watch for alternating lane restrictions in place during the process. (ends TBA)


Smart Streets construction continues with Michigan Street closed from LaSalle to Riverside, downtown. The intersections of Michigan and Bartlett and Michigan and Marion are closed, too. Detour using Sample and Eddy, LaSalle to Niles, or Portage and Angela.(ends 9/2016)

Lane restrictions are in place on Main and Michigan south of Ewing Street as part of the Smart Streets construction project.

(NEW) Old US 31 is restricted from Kern Road to Lucinda St. (ends 10/21)

(NEW) Watch for crews doing water main installation and road widening on Old Cleveland Road, in South Bend, between Olive Road and Poppy Road. (ends 8/25)

(NEW) Watch for partial lane closures on Jackson Road from Fellows to Grass Road. (ends 10/31)

(NEW) Watch for a partial lane closure in the 100 block of St. Joseph St. (ends 10/1)

The repaving project continues on State Road 23 between Edison Road in South Bend and Gumwood & Main in Mishawaka. (TFN)

The Olive-Sample bridge construction project continues. Sample Street has lane restrictions… Also Olive Street is closed at Ford Street on north… and south of Sample. (ends Sep/Oct 2016)

The City of South Bend’s sewer separation project is underway with road closures taking place along Northside Boulevard and Frances Street, south of Wayne Street. (ends in Nov. 2016)

(NEW FOR WED 8/17) Michigan Street will be closed between Western Avenue and Colfax Avenue from 2:00 am to 6:00 am for crews to patch potholes and sweep the streets in advance of the Art Beat event scheduled for Saturday, August 20th.



Watch for lane restrictions on U.S. 30 between State Road 15 and State Road 19 in Kosciusko County. (ends in August)


Lane closures on U.S. 30, between County Road 300 East and U.S. 35, near Hamlet, through the middle of September. Crews will close one eastbound and one westbound lane at a time. (ends 9/2016)


Construction is now underway on a roundabout at Five Points Road and U.S. 12 in Cass County, between Edwardsburg and Union. Drivers who travel through the area should detour along Cassopolis Road, Mason Street and Calvin Center Road (ends 9/30)
