Search for suspect underway after Elkhart cell phone store was robbed at gunpoint

Police in Elkhart are still searching for the suspect they say robbed the Boost Mobile store in the 700 block of South Main Street.

Police were called to the store around 7 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 8, 2016, according to Sgt. Chris Snyder with the Elkhart Police Department.

Officers arrived and were told the business had just been robbed, Snyder stated.

The suspect entered the store, displayed a handgun and demanded the money.  After receiving the money the suspect took off on foot.

The suspect was described as a black male, 5’4” tall wearing a gray shirt, black hat and gray pants, Snyder stated.

The Elkhart Police Department is asking for anyone who can identifying the suspect in photo with this story to contact Detective Scott Johnson at 574-295-7070 or the Tip Line at 574-389-4777.
