Woman who died in Claypool house explosion identified

The name of the woman who died in the house explosion in the 4600 block of South County Road 450 West, near Claypool, on Thursday, Aug. 25, has been released.

The body of Kay A. Justis, 68, was found in the debris, according to Kosciusko County Coroner Anthony Ciriello.

Emergengy crews also found her husband, still alive, buried under the debris, according to the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office. He was last listed n critical condition at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne.

Some animals were also killed in the explosion, according to WSBT.

The blast may have been caused by a gas leak, according to the preliminary investigation, as reported by WSBT.

The Indiana State Fire Marshal is still investigating the explosion.
