Video of South Bend man overdosing on drugs goes viral

A controversial Facebook Live video, shot at a South Bend gas station, appears to show a man overdosing.

The man’s family says that the man in the video, which was streamed live Sunday night, is recovering after being taken to the hospital. But many people are expressing concern that the video was broadcast live, according to our reporting partners at ABC 57.

Not only that, but the recording of the overdose began at 9:27 pm, but the South Bend Police say no one called for an ambulance until 9:30. In fact, a couple of minutes go by on the video before anyone says they were calling 911.

A drug counselor at the Life Treatment Center says every minute counts in these situations.

Police agree that the onlookers should have placed the call more urgently.
