Toll road exchange in Michigan City opens, but two more to close soon

It’s a case of good and bad if you’re an Indiana Toll Road driver.

The bad news is that two more exits are closing, according to the Indiana Toll Road.

Locally, the South Bend West interchange with the U.S. 20/U.S. 31 bypass is closing Tuesday. Drivers are asked to take the U.S. 331 exit, head south and connect with the bypass that way instead.

Pavement work is also scheduled for the S.R. 49 exit at the Valparaiso/Chesterton interchange starting Wednesday. If you’re heading eastbound, the official detour is I-65 south to I-94 west to S.R. 49 south. For westbound drivers, it’s U.S. 421 north to I-94 west, then to S.R. 49 south.

The good news is that the Michigan City interchange closure at Exit 49 at S.R. 39 wrapped up Friday.
