Indiana voter registrations surge after Friday reminder

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Secretary of State Connie Lawson reports there’s been a significant increase in online voter registration in Indiana since Facebook posted an online reminder.

Lawson says 30,000 Indiana residents have registered to vote online since Friday. She said Friday was the highest daily total ever for online registrations with 21,000 people registering. Facebook on Friday posted messages to users who are 18 and older directing them to resources to register to vote in Indiana. By clicking the reminder, people were sent to Indianavoters.com to register to vote.

People visiting that site can register to vote, find their polling locations and research who is on their ballot.

Oct. 11 is the deadline to register for the general election on Nov. 8.
