A local RV manufacturer has had a record year in sales for fiscal 2016.

Thor Industries, the largest RV manufacturer in the world, says sales for fiscal 2016 were up 14.4% percent over last year, to $4.58 billion, according to our reporting partners at The Elkhart Truth.

Thor saw a record $82.2 million profit from continuing operations. On top of that, total revenues were nearly $1.3 billion in the fourth quarter that ended on July 31. President and CEO Bob Martin calls 2016 the strongest year in Thor history.

Towable RV sales were up in the fourth quarter, nearly 20% over the same period in 2015. Sales of motorized RVs jumped 35.3%, thanks in part to growth in the moderately-priced gas-class motorhomes that target new consumers.

Sales are up for 2016 industry-wide.
