Train slams into Jeep stopped on railroad tracks near Concord Mall

A Goshen man may have been intoxicated when he allowed his Jeep to get hit by a train on the railroad tracks in Dunlap.

His vehicle was stopped on the tracks on the Sunnyside Ave. crossing betwen U.S. 33 and C.R. 45. at about 6:40 a.m. Sunday, according to the Elkhart Truth.

A Norfolk Southern train smashed into the rear passenger side of the Jeep. That caused the Jeep to go into the crossing gate and signal device on the northeast side of the crossing.

Charges of driving while intoxicated are being sought for the man in the vehicle.
