Plymouth toddler hospitalized in serious condition, caretaker arrested

A Plymouth toddler has been hospitalized with brain injuries and the baby’s caretaker has been arrested on neglect charges.

The 18-month-old child was taken to the St. Joseph Regional Medical Center on Thursday, Nov. 10,  then later airlifted to a Fort Wayne hospital for surgery.

The toddler’s caretaker, Jamie Elsea, was interviewed on Thursday night upon his arrival at the hospital, but was initially released, according to 95.3 MNC’s reporting partners at ABC 57.

Elsea was arrested on Friday after investigators say it became clear that the injures were caused by a criminal offense,. ABC 57 reported.

He is being held in the Marshall County Jail.
