A state representative from Goshen didn’t just anger Democrats once on Wednesday, he angered them twice, though he’s apologizing for one of those instances.
Curt Nisly retweeted a meme Wednesday that said the following: “Democrats haven’t been this angry since we freed their slaves.”
Late Friday afternoon, Nisly apologized.
I apologize for recently sharing an inappropriate Tweet and I have since deleted it. It was a mistake and I didn’t mean to offend anyone.

The tweet led to a flood of angry tweets at Nisly, and despite the apology, more anger came his way.
@curtnisly yes you did. You certainly meant to offend.

It wasn’t “inappropriate.” It was disgusting and racist. @curtnisly

@curtnisly Disgraceful. Another embarrassment from a bigoted Indiana politician that makes Hoosiers around the world feel ashamed.

The very same day he retweeted the meme, he announced plans to introduce a “Protection of Conception” bill that would make abortions a criminal act in Indiana.
