A candlelight vigil for 2-year-old Adalin Stamper has been postponed due to the arrival of winter weather.

The candlelight vigil will now take place for the murdered toddler this coming Saturday evening, according to American Legion Post 49, which is hosting the vigil.

The Koscisuko County Sheriff’s Department found the body of Adalin Stamper behind a home in Warsaw, and arrested Grimmett. He’s the boyfriend of the child’s mother.

Deputies first investigated Grimmett after being told the child had gone missing. He allegedly told them he dropped the girl off with her grandmother. However, she was able to prove she was nowhere near Warsaw at the time. Police searched Grimmett’s brother’s home and found a “substantial” amount of blood, which led to them checking the backyard, and finding a shallow grave.

Police say Grimmett admitted to beating the child to death with his hands. He’s currently being held in the Kosciusko County Jail.
