Vicki Becker picked to rill Curtis Hill’s void as Elkhart County Prosecutor

Elkhart County Republicans have picked the woman that departing County Prosecutor Curtis Hill thought was the right choice for the job.

Chief Deputy County Prosecutor Vicki Becker will be promoted to County Prosecutor when Hill moves on to become Indiana’s Attorney General, according to the Elkhart Truth.

Becker was picked by a 72-22 vote at a special meeting in Goshen. Becker defeated Elkhart attorney Martin McClosky for the post. Becker has been working in the county prosecutor’s office since 1998. She’s served as its Chief Deputy since 2003. She’ll take over on Jan. 9 and will serve through 2018.

Hill previously picked her as his ideal replacement. Becker credits Hill as being a mentor for her and doesn’t foresee any major changes.
