Woman dies after South Shore train collides with vehicle in Michigan City

A South Shore train hit a vehicle in Michigan City Wednesday morning and now, a woman is dead.

The crash happened right before 6 a.m. at the Holiday and Pleasant South Shore Railroad crossing, according to ABC 57.

Crystal Greene, 37, was killed when she tried to cross the tracks on northbound Pleasant Ave. at Holiday St. The train hit her vehicle, pushing it to the Holiday St. and Helen St. intersection, according to Michigan City Police.

Greene died at a local hospital. The engineer says warning lights were activated when Greene tried to cross the tracks.

Normal routes have resumed on the South Shore line, but delays are possible.
