Walkerton man killed in head-on crash with semi on U.S. 6 north of Milford

A Walkerton man was killed when the pick-up truck he was driving struck a semi.

It happened around 10:45 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 9, on U.S. 6 just east of S.R. 15 at C.R. 23 according to the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department.

Ernest Snider Jr. was driving eastbound on U.S. 6 when he drove left of center and directly into the path of the semi, the sheriff’s department stated.

The vehicles collided head-on. Snider was pronounced dead at the scene. The Kokomo man who was driving the semi was treated for injuries at the scene of the collision, the sheriff’s department stated.

This incident is under further investigation by the Elkhart County Sheriff Department crash team, Indiana State Police and the Elkhart County Coroner’s Office.
