Elkhart man accused of hitting 4-year-old girl in head with hammer

An Elkhart man faces a slew of charges after police say he struck a 4-year-old girl in the head with a hammer.

It happened Saturday in the 500 block of West Lexington Avenue, according to the Elkhart Truth.

Police say 40-year-old Willie Brown threatened to kill the girl, as well, while arguing with the victim’s mother. The girl’s injuries are not considered life-threatening, according to the Elkhart Truth.

Brown was also found to be in possession of cocaine and drug paraphernalia. He was booked into jail on $100,000 bond on battery and drug-related charges.
