The shooting happened in March 2015, but almost two years later, officers believe they have their man.
Trevon M. Triplett, 18, of East Chicago was arrested Tuesday on a warrant for attempted murder, according to the Elkhart Truth.
Triplett reportedly admitted to police that he pulled the trigger on March 12, 2015 on a passing car outside of the Family Dollar on Cassolpolis St. on the north side of Elkhart. He claims he saw someone inside the car getting ready to open fire, but that he was “quicker on the trigger.”
Neither the driver nor the passenger in the vehicle were hurt. One bullet went through the rear passenger window and there were other bullet holes in the car. Following that, the driver reversed, crashed into another vehicle, and caused that vehicle to hit a third vehicle. The driver then fled the area.
