No fatalities and no drug or alcohol related crashes on New Year’s Eve in St. Joseph County

A lot more people will remember where they were when the clock struck midnight on New Year’s Eve this year.

The St. Joseph County Traffic Safety Partnership announced Tuesday that there were no fatalities and no alcohol or drug related crashes during New Year’s Eve celebrations, according to a press release.

10 people were arrested for D.U.I. between 6 p.m. Saturday until 6 a.m. Monday, according to police reports.

St. Joseph County officers received a traffic safety grant to saturate patrols on New Year’s Eve, watching out for drunk or impaired drivers. The partnership thanks anyone who decided to be a designated driver as well as cab companies and Uber for offering free rides home.
