Police pursuit in Elkhart ends up in Cass County, Michigan cornfield

It started in Elkhart and ended with a K9 deployed in a cornfield in Michigan.

The Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department pursued a vehicle into Cass County, Michigan at about 2:20 a.m. Wednesday, where Cass County deputies picked up the chase, according to a press release.

The pursuit ended near the intersection of Birch Rd. and Teasdale Lake, where the vehicle then drove into a corn field. The driver got out and fled on foot.

A K9 was dispatched and the suspect was tracked down. A 29-year-old man from South Bend was a passenger in the vehicle and was released with no charges. The identity of the driver has not been released pending arraignment, though the driver has been initially charged with fleeing, eluding, and operating without a driver’s license.
