For the fourth time in six months, a Marathon gas station in northeast Elkhart was robbed.

The gas station at 1850 E. Bristol St. was robbed at about 8 p.m. Tuesday by a man with a handgun, according to the Elkhart Truth.

The robber is described as a black man with black clothes and a covering on his face, possible a fake mustache and beard. He displayed the handgun and demanded cash. The clerk complied and the suspect took the clerk’s cell phone, along with the money, before taking off and heading to the nearby Key Bank branch.

The gas station was previously robbed in June 2015, just months after it opened. Since then, it was robbed on June 5, Aug. 14, and Nov. 25 of 2016. Customers have suggested the owners install bulletproof glass to prevent future robberies.
