Officer injured while responding to St. Joseph County crash

A St. Joseph County officer is recovering after he was hit by a tanker truck Thursday afternoon.

The officer was hit along S.R. 2 just west of Tulip Road, according to WSBT.

An officer responding to one of many slide-off crashes reported on area roadways Thursday was walking along the side of the road.

A tanker truck passing by lost control, slid into the path of the officer, and clipped him. The officer suffered non-life threatening injuries and was taken to the hospital.
