Newborn baby’s death being investigated in South Bend

Authorities in St. Joseph County are investigating the death of a newborn baby.

Officers from the South Bend Police Department were called to an area hospital on the report of a baby which died.

The baby’s death happened in the 2900 block of Rue Renoir Street in South Bend.

The baby was taken to the hospital by a member of the family.

The Coroner’s Office was contacted, and then the St. Joseph County Metro Homicide Unit was contacted.

Metro Homicide investigators have spoken to several people. An autopsy will be conducted on Tuesday, Jan. 17, in Kalamazoo.
