The Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department is reminding people who buy and sell items on the internet to use caution when arrangements are made to meet with people they don’t know to make the transaction.

This, after a 20-year-old man was robbed at his home in the 54000 block of Ash Road by two men who he made arrangements with on the internet to purchase some gaming consoles, according to the sheriff’s department.

The suspects were allowed inside of the home by the victim.  Once inside of the residence, one of the suspects displayed a handgun while the second suspect removed an undisclosed amount of cash, electronics, and other items from the home.

Both of the suspects are described as black males.  One of them is tall and stocky and the second is a smaller male, according to the sheriff’s department.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department’s Detective Bureau at 574-891-2300 or by clicking on the “Submit a Tip” button located at the top of the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department’s Facebook page.

Police advise when you arrange for an internet transaction to never go alone and do not invite strangers into your home or go to their home.  They say, if possible, to make arrangements to meet at a police station or a public place.  Let others know your plans and take your cell phone with you.
