Some Michiana McDonald’s to take part in Special Sauce giveaway

(Jon Zimney/95.3 MNC)

To get you to come into McDonald’s and buy new versions of its Big Mac, the chain is giving away 10,000 bottles of its trademark special sauce for people to use at home.

The move is to celebrate the introduction of the Mac Jr. and the Grand Mac, two different-sized variations of the classic sandwich.

The giveaway is a first in the United States.

McDonald’s introduced the Big Mac in 1968. In 1975, the special sauce got its own callout in the signature Big Mac commercial, touting the burger’s components: “Two all-beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions on a sesame seed bun.”

The bottles will be available Thursday, Jan. 26, at participating locations nationwide, including the following in Michiana:

  • 11 a.m.            5704 Grape Road, Mishawaka, IN
  • 11 a.m.            3611 Commerce Drive, Warsaw, IN
  • 1:35 p.m.         68889 M-62, Edwardsburg, MI
  • 2:35 p.m.         2808 Cassopolis Street, Elkhart, IN
  • 3:50 p.m.         416 N. Michigan, South Bend, IN

Customers throughout the nation can find Big Mac Special Sauce bottles in their market by downloading the Big Mac Special Sauce Finder iMessage app that highlights the nearest restaurant where the limited edition bottles will be available.

The bottles will be awarded on a first come, first served basis. Participants must tell McDonald’s crewperson or designated representative the secret code phrase “There’s a Big Mac for that.” Quantities are limited and may vary by restaurant.
