New speed limits lead to extra patrols in Mishawaka

You can now legally drive a little faster on some Mishawaka roads, but police will be watching you.

Grape Road from McKinley to Edison Roads went from 30 to 35 miles per hour this past week. A speed limit increase for Dragoon Trail to go from 30 to 35 miles per hour will be done soon, according to ABC 57.

However, despite the new Mishawaka City Council ordinance authorizing the speed limit bump, the speed limits don’t change until the signs do.

“It’s hard to keep up with the number of violations I see on this road,” Mishawaka Lt. Tim Williams told ABC 57 in regards to Dragoon Trail.

Williams says extra patrols will be out in the coming weeks, with an eye on the areas where the speed limit is being increased. He warns that if you go even one mile over the speed limit, you will get a ticket.
