Shots fired call leads to intent to murder charge in Benton Harbor

A man is in custody on a preliminary charge of assault with intent to murder after shots rang out in Benton Harbor.

It happened at around 3:30 a.m. Monday, when Benton Harbor Department of Public Safety officers were called to a home on Lavette Street.

A woman was taken to Lakeland Hospital for treatment after police say a man assaulted her.

That man, whose name is not being released pending arraignment, is in custody. He’s facing preliminary charges of assault with intent to murder, felony firearms, felon in possession, possession of cocaine and possession of marijuana.
