Hoosier reaction to President Donald Trump‘s nomination of Judge Neil Gorsuch to the U.S. Supreme Court is as divided along party lines as you’d expect.

Republican U.S. Senator Todd Young released a video statement, applauding President Trump’s nomination and says he looks forward to a full vetting process.

Watch the full statement here:

Indiana’s other U.S. Senator, Democrat Joe Donnelly, responded Wednesday morning. “As I have said part of our job as Senators includes considering, debating, and voting on judicial nominations, including to the Supreme Court. I will carefully review and consider the record and qualifications of Neil Gorsuch.”

Second District House Representative Jackie Walorski says Gorsuch’s record on the bench makes clear his unwavering commitment to constitutional principles, and his respect for the sanctity of life.

South Bend Mayor and DNC Chair candidate Pete Buttigieg tweeted his reaction after last night’s announcement:

Donnelly will do whatever his party does…He has no insight of his own. (Bail outs) and Buttgieg will put “Roundy’s” in DC when he becomes DNC Chairman so all will be OK.
