Mass for immigrants and refugees held on Notre Dame campus

The Basilica of the Sacred Heart held a Mass for immigrants and refugees Monday night to address national attitudes towards immigration.

Notre Dame Associate Theology Professor Father Daniel Groody says the attitudes of both the United States and Catholics toward immigrants and refugees is of the utmost importance, according to the Notre Dame Observer.

Monday night’s service was sponsored by Campus Ministry and the Office of the President and Student Government. Father John Jenkins presided.

The Mass came little more than a week after President Donald Trump issued an executive order banning the issuance of visas to nationals of seven Muslim-majority countries for 90 days and stopping the admission of refugees for 120 days, in order to review the country’s immigration vetting process.
