Hit-and-run driver sought in Elkhart County buggy crash

(Ashley Wilkerson/Elkhart Truth)

Police in Elkhart County are looking for the driver of a Chrysler PT Cruiser that rear-ended a horse and buggy south of Middlebury late Friday.

The driver drove away from the scene in the 59000 block of S.R. 13 near C.R. 24 just before 10 p.m. Friday without leaving any information, according to the Elkhart Truth.

A 9-year-old girl from Middlebury suffered a minor ankle injury. Her father refused medical attention, and two others in the buggy were not hurt.

All that is known about the driver is that she was a woman. The car likely has significant front-end damage, but no other description of the car was available.

Anyone with information about the accident is asked to contact the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department at 574-533-4151 or leave a tip on the department’s Facebook page under the “Submit a Tip” option.
