Concord High School plans on forming their own police department, and are targeting May to get the program started.

The Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department issued a statement Friday morning.

Sheriff Brad Rogers said that he had not yet had an opportunity to consult with the school board to work out the logistics and details of how the department might assist with the creation of the program.

Sheriff Rogers says he is always open for discussions and cooperation, and looks forward to the dialogue with the schools.

The new police department could be in place by May.
