The elderly Mishawaka woman who police say was severely beaten by her daughter has died.

85-year-old Mary Claypool was taken off life support, St. Joseph County Metro Homicide officials tell ABC 57.

She had been hospitalized since Tuesday afternoon, when she was allegedly beaten by her daughter, 59-year-old Annette Beedle. Beedle was charged Thursday with attempted murder.

Court documents say Beedle called 911 that afternoon and said “I just tried to kill my mom. I beat her with a fire extinguisher.”

She’s still in St. Joseph County Jail. A preliminary charge of murder has been added, according to jail records.
