Indiana Gov. Eric Holcomb will not use private email for official business

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Indiana Gov. Eric Holcomb says he does not use private email for official business.

That distinguishes the Republican from his predecessor, Vice President Mike Pence, who has been criticized for using an AOL account to conduct state business.

Holcomb said Monday that he has been clear to staff “from day one” that personal and work email should not comingle.

And he says he redirects any emails related to state business that are sent to his personal account.

Pence frequently criticized rival Hillary Clinton‘s use of a private email server as secretary of state.

Spokesman Marc Lotter has said Pence “maintained a state email account and a personal email account” like other Indiana governors.

Some question if this allowed Pence to bypass Indiana’s public records law.
