The Niles Community School District seeks to gain about a million dollars as they pursue a plan to increase their efficiency by selling off three of their buildings.
The district is looking to unload the Westside Administrative Center, James Ellis Elementary, and Cedar Lane Alternative High School. A successful sale of the three buildings would impact about 500 students, according to the South Bend Tribune.
Under the plan, Ring Lardner would become a Middle School serving grades six through eight, Kindergarten and first grade students would move from Ellis to Howard Elementary, and students from Westside and Cedar Lane would move into the now-vacant Oak Manor building.
Assistant Curriculum Superintendent Donna Roark says these moves would benefit both students and teachers.
