11-month-old child killed in crash on U.S. 31 near Marshall-Fulton County line

An 11-month-old child was killed in a crash on U.S. 31 near the Marshall-Fulton County line on Satursday, March 18.

Around 4:50 p.m., officers from the Indiana State Police, the Fulton County Sheriff’s Department, the Rochester Police Department, and the Argos Police Department responded to the two vehicle crash on U.S. 31 at State Road 110.

The crash happened when a 21-year-old woman, who was driving a 2013 Ford Taurus southbound on U.S. 31, attempted to make an eastbound turn onto State Road 110. She failed to yield oncoming traffic, and pulled into the path of a northbound 2011 Ford 350 pickup truck driven by a 24-year-old man from Goshen, according to the preliminary police report.

The woman in the car was airlifted to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. A 21-year-old passenger and a 2-year-old passenger were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Julian Gonzalez, 11 months, of Monterrey, Indiana, who was the third passenger in the car, was taken by ambulance to a Plymouth hospital. He died due to injuries sustained in the crash.

The investigation into the crash is still underway.
