Man detained after southwest South Bend shooting Thursday night

A person has been detained after a shooting on South Bend’s southwest side Thursday evening.

Police are stopping short of calling the person a suspect, according to WSBT.

An officer was in the area of Dubail and High Streets when he heard multiple gunshots and saw a car speed away from the area. After a brief chase, the driver of the car was found to have a gun on him.

A second car in the area drove away from the scene. Shell casings were found in the area.

No injuries were reported in the shooting, and reports of a second shooting were found to be a false alarm. The investigation into the matter continues.
