Notre Dame’s legendary women’s basketball coach Muffet McGraw is getting the highest honor a coach can get.

McGraw was elected to the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame Saturday.

She’s the sixth-winningest female coach in women’s history, with a career record of 853-227. She’s also the 10th-winningest coach in women’s basketball history, regardless of sex.

In addition to the 2011 National Championship, McGraw has led the Irish to seven Final Fours, 15 Sweet 16s and 24 NCAA Championship berths, including 22 straight tourney appearances.

McGraw is the first Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame inductee from the Irish women’s program, and seventh from the school overall.

She’ll be inducted on induction weekend, which is Sept. 7-8 in Springfield, Mass. Joining her will be former Chicago Bulls executive Jerry Krause, two-time NBA scoring champion Tracy McGrady, Kansas coach Bill Self, former UConn star Rebecca Lobo, and Texas high school coach Robert Hughes.
