Mishawaka Gordmans store spared from bankruptcy chopping block

Gordmans customers have a good reason to breathe a little easier.

Gordmans struck a deal with their new buyer, Omaha-based Stage Stores, that will keep about 50 of their stores open, including the Mishawaka location, according to terms of the purchase.

There had been concerns that the Mishawaka store was facing foreclosure. Fort Wayne, Valparaiso, and Lafayette will be keeping their stores as well.

A number of other stores in both Michigan and Indiana, however, are on the chopping block. If a store is not on the list below, it is still slated to close:
