Our earlier story…

A 19-year-old man from Bristol was identified as the man shot and killed by officers after a wild scene in Goshen this week.

An autopsy was performed Thursday on Michael Alcaraz, who also reportedly has ties to the Chicago area. A shotgun that Alcaraz allegedly had on him was recovered at the scene, according to Indiana State Police.

Alcaraz was shot and killed by police in the Double D’s Hometown Bar and Grill parking lot on Lincolnway East Wednesday morning. This, after allegedly terrorizing people at a nearby gas station with a shotgun and trying to carjack at least three people, according to the Elkhart Truth.

He was chased by police to the bar and grill parking lot, but not before trying to carjack another vehicle and firing a shotgun blast.

A 68-year-old Goshen man who was in the wrong place at the wrong time was shot in the shoulder in the bar and grill parking lot. It’s not clear whether he was shot by Alcaraz or Goshen police. He’s being treated at a Fort Wayne hospital.

Indiana State Police investigators are asking anyone who encountered him on Wednesday to call the state police Bremen Post at 574-546-4900.
