Elkhart semi rollover snarls Monday morning commute

Traffic is back to normal at the intersection of Middlebury Street and Herman Street in Elkhart after a semi truck rolled over, blocking the area.

It happened around 8:45 a.m. Monday morning. Elkhart Police investigators say it appears the driver of the semi was traveling westbound on Middlebury Street and tried to turn left on to Herman.

However, the semi was traveling too fast, and the rig rolled. A small amount of diesel fuel leaked from the tank, but the mess was quickly contained.

The driver was not injured, but traffic was snarled for hours, on account of the crash.
