Elkhart man arrested for stabbing man walking with his wife

Elkhart police responded to a stabbing early Wednesday morning.

It happened at about 3:20 a.m. Wednesday outside of a home on the 900 block of West Marion Street, according to the Elkhart Police Department.

Officers say 41-year-old Damion Hester approached a man and his wife as they were walking to their vehicle. Hester then stabbed the victim in the chest then fled on foot.

The victim is being treated at Elkhart General Hospital for serious injuries. It’s believed Hester, the victim, and his wife have been in an ongoing dispute that grew so heated, the wife got a protection order against Hester.

The victim was able to describe Hester in full before being taken to the hospital. Hester was located walking a few blocks away from the scene and taken into custody without incident. Police charged him with attempted murder and invasion of privacy.
